Very basic blackjack strategy
Most blackjack novices or very recreational gamers play with zero blackjack strategy - they simply 'use their logic, luck and instinct' to try and form winning hands. Now, in essence this makes sense, but it is exactly the way to ensure the house edge affects your results! Instead, even if you aspire to nothing more than fun - use the rules below for a little more power, and a smaller dealer advantage….
- Hit until your combo is 17+ or soft 18, and the casino 7>
- If the game's up-card is 6<, hit until your have 12+
- Double-bet if you have 10 or 11 against dealer 9<
- Split 8's and aces
Advanced basic blackjack strategy
The next level-up from very basic blackjack strategy, is famously known as 'Basic Blackjack Strategy'. In effect, blackjack is a science, and that means it can be played with specific rules to get more of a statistical advantage. How much advantage? Well, not enough to truly say you have an edge over the blackjack dealer, but enough to game with a disadvantage of as little as 0.5% - and that means more frequent winning hands and less chance of losing! Card counting
Ideally - you'll be able to one day advance to learning and using the concept of blackjack card counting; scoring the pack to find a real edge, and then betting with accuracy to make it pay. An an example of card counting, the Hi-Lo system scores blackjack card with the following values:
Aces and 10 point cards = -1
Cards 7, 8 and 9 = 0
2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 = +1
When the blackjack count is high (such as +5) - the edge is with the gamer due to the high rich pack. The opposite is true when the score is negative. Our Blackjack game has a dealer and one to three players (as described above). The dealer deals from a shoe containing four decks of playing cards. Before the deal, the players place their bets by double clicking on either the $1 chip, $5 chip, $10 chip or the $50 chip to reach the desired bet. After deciding on the desired bet the player must click the "Continue" button to proceed with the hand. The round begins after all participants have done exactly the same. Once the deal begins the bets may not be changed. During the course of the hand players may add to their bets through double downs, splits, and insurance. After the cards are dealt, the dealer will ask each player, what action he/she wishes to take. Buttons located on the lower left side of the screen will appear in order to facilitate betting. For example, if it is possible to split two cards a button will appear to allow the player to split the cards. The player simply clicks on the "Split" button to facilitate splitting. The minimum initial bet is $1 and the maximum initial bet is $250. Each player receives two cards face up and the dealer receives one card face up. The player may request as many cards until he/she busts out. If a player is dealt Black Jack, which is a 10 or face card along with an Ace, he/she immediately gets paid 1.5 times the placed bet unless the dealer also has Blackjack in which case it is a "push" (you neither win nor lose your bet). After all the players' bets are completed, the dealer completes his hand. If the dealer has sixteen or less, he must draw a card (hit), until he reaches seventeen or more. If the dealer's card total exceeds 21 (bust), he must pay all players who are still in the game. "Double Down": A player may select the Double Down option after being dealt two cards. The Double Down option automatically doubles the bet and automatically deals one card fase up. The player cannot draw any additional cards beyond the required one (which is automatically dealt). The player may double down on any first dealt two cards or after splitting a pair. "Split": If the player is dealt two cards of the same denomination, he/she may split the cards into two hands and each separately. The split option automatically places additional bet equal to the original wager. Each is played independently, and the player may take as many hits as desired on each hand. In the case of split Aces, a player's blackjack is not possible and is considered as a regular 21. In this case, a dealer's blackjack wins, and a dealer's 21 becomes a "Push". "Insurance": If the dealer shows an Ace, the player has the option of making an "Insurance Bet". This equals half the original bet, and ensures that the player will not lose his/her wager should the dealer be concealing a 10 or face card under his Ace. If in fact the dealer's down card is equal to 10, the player wins the Insurance bet at odds of 2-1. If the dealer's down card has a value of less than 10, the player loses the Insurance Bet and continues normally with the hand. "Push": A Push refers to when the dealer and the player have the same count in their hands. In this event the play is a draw, and no one wins or loses. Notes: · Should a player fail to place a bet within the set default time, the hand will continue without his/her participation. · Should a player fail to click the "continue" button within the set default time, he/she will automatically be dealt two cards and the hand will continue. · In case of failure to click the "continue" button due to disconnection, the disconnection rules shall apply.
